Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Second Harvest Foodbank!
Our work to distribute nutritious food and end hunger would not be possible without community members like you. Thank you for your valuable donation of time.
Second Harvest Foodbank is dedicated to building a volunteer community where everyone feels safe, valued, and welcome. Explore our volunteer opportunities below and become part of a community committed to ending hunger!
Ways to Volunteer
Volunteers help sort, label, and repack food into family-friendly portions for neighbors across our 16-county service area. Tasks may include sorting fresh produce, labelling frozen pizza, or dividing 1,000 pounds of potatoes into easy-to-use 5-pound bags. Our volunteer projects are safe, well-organized, and led by our friendly and knowledgeable staff. No experience necessary!
Unique, ongoing volunteer needs, such as data entry, language translation, delivery drivers, maintenance and donation desk.
Scheduling for corporate teams, community organizations, and other groups in our daily food sorting and repack opportunity.
Opportunities for students, families, and young community members ages 12-18 (with adult chaperones).
Frequently Asked Questions
Volunteers must be 12 years or older, and volunteers between the ages of 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their shift. For every 5 youth, 1 adult should plan to volunteer with the group. To ensure safety, this policy is not flexible.
Please cancel or update your volunteer reservation as early as possible. This gives other volunteers time to fill the spot and helps ensure we can get food out to our neighbors who are relying on us!
- If you are a group leader, please make group cancellations or adjustments in the volunteer portal at least 1 week before the shift. (Please note: Each group member must register and join the group 7 days before the event. Any unregistered spots at that point will be released and made available for public sign-up.)
