Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin is pleased to announce the appointment of Tanya Andersen Buckingham as its new Vice President of Advancement, a key executive leadership position responsible for advancing the organization’s mission through strategic fundraising, cross-sector partnerships, and community-centered engagement.

In this role, Buckingham will provide executive oversight of development, communications, marketing, community partnerships, and volunteer engagement – ensuring cohesion, strategic clarity, and results. She will also align organizational priorities with community-identified needs while strengthening relationships across donors, partners, businesses, government entities, and other nonprofits.

“Tanya is an exceptional leader with a proven ability to build meaningful relationships and connect organizations with the communities they support,” said Michelle Orge, president and executive director of Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. “Her experience in strategic communications, public service, organizational leadership and community engagement makes her uniquely qualified to help us deepen our impact, expand our partnerships and inspire greater investment in our mission. We are thrilled to welcome her to Second Harvest.”

Buckingham brings more than two decades of leadership experience, including government, higher education, communications, and strategic consulting. Most recently, she served as Communications Manager for the Dane County Department of Human Services.

“Second Harvest has built an incredible reputation for bringing people together to guarantee that our neighbors have access to nutritious food,” said Buckingham. “I’m honored to join an organization whose mission is so deeply rooted in dignity, collaboration, and community. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, volunteers, donors, and partners to help ensure everyone in our region has the opportunity to thrive.” Buckingham holds a Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Adler University, a Bachelor of Science in International Relations, Cartography/GIS, with an Environmental Studies Certificate from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and recently earned a Certificate in Disruptive Strategy from Harvard Business School Online.
